If you live in North Texas, you won’t want to miss this fun and spooktacular event! Community Opportunities will host a Boo! Run on October 27th, from 8:00 – noon, in Cleburne, TX. With a Half-Marathon, 10K and 5K race or 5K walk, there is something for everyone!
The event will also have BOO!GAMES provided by Gateway Early Learning Center, one of the many sponsors. Games and activities for the little ones are available from 9am-11:30am. (You will even get to see Bud E. Bee, the group’s mascot!)
The Boo! Run is held at Hulen Park, START/FINISH is near the pavilion in the park and the course travels down Westhill Dr. to Berkley for the 5k and all the way to Nolan River Road for the 10k and Half Marathon. All courses complete the circle by coming down Country Club and then back to the park pavilion.
If you would like to sign up, you can visit www.boorun.org or register the day of the event from 6:45am-7:45am. Staggered starts begin at 8 for all races. We would love to see groups from schools come out in costumes and join us in the BOO!RUN fun. We have medals for age group finishers as well as top three runners in each distance. Half Marathon racers get to take home the amazing BOO!RUN finisher medal just for completing the race.
All proceeds go to support the programs and services provided by Community Opportunities INC. We also encourage local businesses and organizations to put together teams and join us with costumes or without for this unique Halloween event. Sponsorships are still available, please contact Pam Masters at pammasters@clc-coi.org or call 817-558-9559 ext 229. You can also call or email if you have any questions about the event.
Community Opportunities Inc. (COI) is a local Johnson County agency which provides quality of life services to residents of Johnson County with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We work daily to serve as advocates for their rights as well as their abilities. Many of our folks work hard to learn skills necessary to have a community job and develop skills towards living as independent as possible. Our workshop/training facility is located in Keene and we are open Monday through Friday 9-3p. We invite you to come and visit to see what we are all about and join in the fun and the community impact we make for those we serve every day.
COI has been providing services for our clients since 1995 and received our 501c3 status October 31st 1997. This year we will be 15 years young! We are so grateful for the wonderful turnout from all our FRIENDS of COI over the last several years and we look forward to growing again in 2012.

That is such a cool set up! We often have marathon runnings around here, where proceeds go to help local families dealing with cancer or such. But I’ve never seen anything quite as fun as this one.
okay so I don’t run anywhere. Seriously, an emergency means I walk fastly. I have mad respect for anyone who runs marathons, and with a great cause? LOVE IT!
