How To Make Applesauce In The Instant Pot

My children absolutely love apples.  They eat them with their lunch, as snacks and sometimes, as dessert. (That’s a win – win, right!?)  When I saw Opal Apples on sale at our local grocery store, I bought about 10 pounds, knowing I wanted to make homemade applesauce one day.  Homemade applesauce is delicious, but I had to figure out how to make applesauce in the Instant Pot to make the process easier.

Sure enough, with a little trial, error and research, I had everything I needed to get started.  (Just three ingredients!)

Start by washing 8-9 large apples in a vinegar and water solution.  You will then want to peel and core your apples, though you could leave the peels on, if you desire.

Roughly cut the apples into one or two inch pieces, then add them to the bowl of your pressure cooker.  (*This is the 6 quart instant pot I have! It’s a great deal, priced at or below $100.)

Add the remaining 3 ingredients: 1 cup of water, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon salt, then toss to mix.

Close the instant pot and cook over high pressure for 7 minutes.

When the pressure cooker has completed, release the pressure, using caution.

Stir the apples to mash them – this will not take much effort, as the apples are tender and ready to be mashed.

When the applesauce is warm, serve.  Or you can cool and store in a sealable container in the refrigerator.  (Or, you can pack into zip type bags and freeze!)
