Free Youth Rookies Program With The Dallas Stars @DallasStars

The Dallas Stars want to make hockey fans – and players – out of kids across the Metroplex, and they are offering a free youth Rookies Program to prove it!

Dallas Stars Rookies Programs

The free youth Rookies Program, for boys and girls ages 4-12 years, will allow children to try hockey at Plano’s Dr. Pepper StarCenter and other ice rinks in North Texas.  The four-week program will be held nearly every month in 2017, beginning in February.  All equipment is provided, and each participant gets a free Rookies jersey to keep.  Register at www.dallasstarscom/rookies.

To participate in these no-cost weekend classes, kids just need to be able to commit to attending a series of four 30-minute sessions and arrive early, wearing warm clothes that are easy to move in.  All equipment, including skates, helmet, hockey stick and pucks are provided for their use and must be returned at the conclusion of the program.  The Rookies jersey is theirs to keep.

This series of learn-to-play hockey camps is designed to make learning to skate fun and introduce kids and families to a healthy and fun sport that can last a lifetime.  Cost and inability to skate are the most frequent barriers for entry into youth hockey and this program removes those barriers completely.  The time commitment is minimal, but an action-packed 30 minutes on the ice makes for one tired rookie.

In partnership with the Dallas Stars Foundation, the Rookies Program is dedicated to promoting children’s fitness and developing hockey fans for life by giving kids the opportunity to play, regardless of age, sex or skill level.  Additionally, Dallas Stars Centerman, Jason Spezza, has partnered with Texas Land and Cattle to launch the Jason Spezza Scholarship Fund, which provides monetary assistance to families who may not be able to afford some costs of participation, such as Hockey Academy dues, League dues or equipment.
